"Flying Cloud " by Mamoli - kit bash

In response to Pauls' question.
WHAT was I thinking!
Along those lines. Simulating jackstays. Fine brass rod with split rings to simulate the eyebolt heads. The whole thing glued in place with much colorful language and thinning of hair. This is a second bench dedicated to spar fabrication.:eek:View attachment 541515View attachment 541516View attachment 541517View attachment 541518View attachment 541519
Size does matter! Nice detailed work, Pete.:)

Finished fitting out main spar. Now the nearly identical fore and mizzen lower spars await my nimble fingers and endless patience. (Wish I could just snap my fingers and Voila! :p )
Back to reality.Cautious I've included lots of process pictures mostly without comment. I think it's mostly self-explanatory. Lots of steps to get to "finished"
One set of plans shows sheeves for chain inside the spars, others show exterior blocks. I decided to go with exterior blocks because of the fussiness and fragility involved in fitting sheeves into slots in the spar. Since I had a choice, I went with the "better part of valor" I know it can be done even at small scale, but I've had the joy of having to go back and repair massive amounts of labor when the fragile end of a mast or spar went "snap!" just as I thought I was rounding the last bend to the finish line .20250902_140328.jpg20250902_140950.jpg20250902_141652.jpg20250902_155319.jpg20250902_162936.jpg20250902_162936.jpg20250902_160734.jpg20250903_132609 (3).jpg20250902_163128.jpg20250902_163822.jpg20250902_172411 (2).jpg20250903_153437.jpg20250903_153816.jpg
