Hello everyone!

My name is Jeremy, you can call me Doc if you'd like. I recently stumbled across this forum doing research for a few models I had been building and decided this place seems like a great place to share my work, and learn from others who share my passion of models ships.

I guess I'll start from the beginning, I am a US Navy Veteran though by nature of my job I spent more time in the sand then on a ship and during my Service career only served on 1 Ship the USS Kearsarge LHD-3 and did a brief stay on the USS San Antonio during her initial sea trials. But I have always been drawn to warships for as long as I could remember and that gave me a desire to want to build models of them.

As a child I built a few models with my father but never an ships and to be honest I didn't pay much attention so as an adult and my father since past taking up the hobby was going to be an experience in learning.

I started out on another forum ScaleModeladdicts, because my subject matter was not always ships and I needed a lot of help and guidance. Over my time there I've learned to weather, build dioramas, use PE, rig lines, and fabricate parts.. but I still got along ways to go

This was the kit that brought me into the Hobby the LHD-3 USS Kearsarge with a detail upgrade kit that unfortunately at 1/700 scale was way out of my skill set at the time but I did my best to honor my old shipPXL_20230606_015654637.PORTRAIT.jpgPXL_20220830_190715447.PORTRAIT.jpgPXL_20221005_005519520.PORTRAIT.jpgPXL_20230617_184333227.jpgPXL_20221020_191135455.PORTRAIT.jpgPXL_20230609_200828283.jpgPXL_20221005_221725633.PORTRAIT.jpg
As you can see I have tried my hand at many skills but I am still learning and hope to learn from you all and share with you all.

My current project is a 1/350 Revell USS New Jersey(post 1981) Platinum Edition (includes wooden deck, turned barrels, a ton of PE upgrades). It's the largest scale model ship I have ever built and the most upgraded. I had my eye on the kit for a bit but my local model shop wanted 200 + for it and one day I found it on Amazon mispriced for 75 dollars skeptical I did a lot of research and realized that the seller was pricing it as a basic new Jersey Kit but the details were for the Platinum so I took a gamble and was happy to find I was correct. So anyways I have a project a head of me and I hope to share it with you all.

also from my side a warm welcome here on board of our forum.

Thank you it's been a love hate relationship getting them to where they are, a lot of it was learning from others on forums like this or YouTube.

Welcome to the forums! We have quite a few members that build models other than ships. . Your builds look great and hardly look to be the work of the FNG

Jeff
