Hello everyone, I am curious if I'm on the right track here, my book told me to build this jig for gluing the futtocks (frames) together, midship frames only, I guess I am looking for some opinions or tips on gluing frames together, that hull section you see is just some scrap pine I experimented with , those small sections will eventually be glued together in a (Bruckshaw jig) which I am having a hard time getting info on, any opinions or tips will be greatly appreciated thanks.....

You have an interesting jig that looks like there is a space between a lower bed and the top glass. I can assume how it used for one frame at a time but also see your stack. Let me know your process as it is evident that there is a lot of time and material to make this device. Thanks, RIch (PT-2)

Brian, I bought one of those and I can’t for the life of me figure out how to get the cross bars tight enough to hold a frame in place while gluing??? What do the small screws do? Have you used one? Can you demonstrate?

It looks like a slow alternating positions tightening process to keep the pressure balance like tightening the lug nuts on a wheel going across to the opposite side each time. Careful clamping clips could do the same thing if applied on opposite sides with your two hands slowly releasing the spring pressure. Maybe that is entirely off the track for this square device. Hi Lou,
the screws are tightened over the frame pieces holding the frame in position. To be honest, I ended up discarding this frame jig and used a piece of acrylic sheet to hold everything down while the glue dried.

Use a stron glass-plate over the frame (so you can check the parts) and put some metal weights on top
easy-cheesy

Yeah, I’m thinking this thing is about as useful as the “Fair-a-frame” sandwich between glass and weights are what I ended up doing as well.
