Hi,

I have a problem to figure out a rigging block type from a french plan (please do not smile even if I am french canadian LOL). There is someone who can help me with : "poulie simple de retour frappée sous la hune". Google gives : "single return block struck under the top". I want to upgrade my AL Belem block and I do not know the type of block I need for these one.

Thanks,

Michel

Thanks you for this excellent link for my needs (in french... wow). I will search for the term "FRAPPÉE" to clarifiy his meaning in regard to Hoqw this pulley is installed for and how.

Michel

It may be a good idea to figure out what tackle you are talking about as a corresponding return block may be "frappé" or (in English) "made fast" in different ways, to different things and at a different spot under the top.

I will also mention that the drawing, shown above, from the link provided, is very similar to the one shown page 19 of the "Manuel du Gabier" published in 1875 and reprinted by Ancre, a book which you may find interesting as well.

Merci beaucoup Gilles,

"poulie simple frappée sous la hune" is one of the many type found in the AAMM plan. So I need mpre research for them to know exactly how to tackle them. BUT, as viewed in my Belem Thread, the more comform size of the block at 1/75 do not put a large place to fancy tackling.

So the terme Frappé is equivalent to made fast. I will search for that since there is a lot more info on the web in english.
