Frigates Columbia and Raritan [COMPLETED BUILD]

done with the carronade carriages for the Columbia. Making and seizing the recoil rope to eye bolts to install when the barrels get here from Blue Jacket. Also finished the ship's wheels for the Columbia and Raritan. One has 12 spokes instead of the normal 10 because I was on the 9th spoke of the second wheel when I realized I had too many!

Bow knees roughed in. See previous posts to see what it will look like complete. The eagle carving will be somewhat different, as are the beak head decorations. Columbia's has slightly less scroll work and an indented clover leaf in the upper scroll circleIMG_8377.JPGIMG_8378.JPGIMG_8379.JPGIMG_8380.JPGIMG_8381.JPGIMG_8383.JPG

90% of the spar deck furniture is complete on both frigates. I still need to finish the carronade gun tackle on the Columbia. Waiting on 2mm double sheaves from Dry Dock Model parts for that. The Shoulder injury I incurred about 14 months ago is 80%or healed. Luckily it was not a torn rotator cuff, only some tendon damage. So, now I can take up rigging the ratlines on Delaware and installing the shrouds on the Germantown. Two more of the 12 ships destroyed at Norfolk harbor in 1861. (the New York was on the stocks being converted to steam) So far completed the Pennsylvania, the Columbus, and the United States.
Hallo @threebs
we wish you all the BEST and a HAPPY BIRTHDAY
Birthday-Cake

How is your work on your huge project going? Maybe you could show us your progress - would be very interesting

The US learned a hard lesson from the war of 1812. It could not be content with relatively cheap frigates to protect it's lands.

Most of the Standing rigging on both the Columbia and Raritan is done. I have the spanker and gaff rigged on the Columbia. I am cutting the Octagonal sections on the yards for both ships starting tomorrow. I have not photographed both ships together in some time, so, I thought I would do so now.
