Thanks for having me aboard! I’m looking forward to exploring more of this space and hopefully contributing my efforts eventually. Currently tackling my second build of HMS SUPPLY- a First Fleet vessel. My Aussie ancestors came out with the same fleet in 1788 but on a different ship- The Lady Penrhyn.
Cheers

Welcome aboard Mark. Plenty of Aussies on here. I'm from the Sunshine Coast Queensland.

HMS SUPPLY
WELCOME TO SoS.
I love your subject vessel choice. With original plans from Rotherhithe on line at the RMG site and other historical information it makes such a build that much more interesting.

I saw that there also is the crew and "passenger" list for the First Fleet 1788 voyage? That would be really interesting for anyone with family involved.

Thanks Allan.
I have changed my avatar to a picture of the Lady Penrhyn which is the First Fleet ship my Australian ancestors came over on. Lt Col George Johnston of the NSW Marine Corps, is my direct connection. He met Esther Abrahams (a convict transported for stealing lace in England) and together went on to establish themselves in the New South Wales colony.

Hello everybody. Interesting connection. I live in Penrhyn Avenue here in Melbourne. My current build is the SS Essex - I have tried to build models of ships with an interesting history and as a boy Herman Melville's story of Moby Dick was an important mind adventure for me so fully understand integrating family history with this intriguing hobby. We learn from our mistakes and I have learnt a lot - still learning!
