Your Question on the Falconet Cannons I do not have a metal lathe so with this in mind I purchased them from the Model Dockyard in Cornwall England, you can find them under the Amati ship parts listing, part # 4150/32 @ $3.26 each. They do have great shipping and I normally have my order in about a week. I have tried buying from the USA but their postage to Canada is outrageous, this I fail to understand, ENJOY.

Back in the Old Ship Yard the little fellows and I have been struggling with all of the Lower Shrouds Rat Lines. Our eyes are going cross-eyed from all of these Clove Hitches and with a rough count of 1174 to date and we still have to contend with the Upper Shrouds and there Rat Lines. But these are much narrower and much shorter than there lower ones. ENJOY

God bless you Lawrence you are such a clever man. It never dawned on me to use such a simple method to keep rat line straight. Thanks for sharing that.
 
A very clever idea to keep them in the same distance and parallel. One strip in front and one at the backside I guess....a forum like this you can learn a lot from the modeling friends. Thanks

I do thank you very much for your visit to my build log, also for your very kind words and overly nice comments. I can not take credit for this little Rat Line Jig as it was given to me by an Old Ship Mate in England many years ago when I was building the HMS Victory and she sure did have a pile of Rat Lines. I figured now when I am working on the little ship the Golden Hind that it would be nice to share this great idea that works so well for me, saving hours of time and making the job look so much better, ENJOY.

I do like to share my ideas and those that were given to me by fellow Ship Mates with all of my Ship Mates here on the Great SOS Form. For the Rat Line jig, I took for a piece of wood around 1mm thick and that will fill the space between the Rat Lines on my drawing, cut two equal pieces a little longer than the widest Rat Line and drill a hole in each end that is clear of the Shrouds at their widest point, I mark them and install two nails in the back using a bit of CA Glue and then redrill the front of the jig a bit larger than the nails so that the two pieces fit together nicely. I then cut off the sharp points and round them over avoiding a lot of puncture holes in my fingers, ENJOY.

Back in the Old Ship Yard the little fellows and I have completed that dreadful task of tying all of those dreadful Rat Lines but this had to be done. We did cut out those that we had installed on the Lower Mizzen Mast as they were just to narrow and looked like a belt rather than a set of Rat Lines. We did remove and replace the Chanel and replace it with a much longer one giving us a much more realistic look.



Now we are looking at the Upper Brace that goes from the Cross Tree on the Fore Mast to the end of the Bowsprite, it seems that there are numerous approaches to the way that this Brace is secured to the Bowsprite, just too many choices !!!!!!!, ENJOY

Back in the Old Ship Yard the little fellows and I have finally decided on the Bowsprite Upper Brace. Of all of the choices and many different configurations, we have decided to follow that is shown in my build plans. We have installed this Brace very roughly and a bit more adjustment is needed. We did have to build a 4 sleeve Ramshead block to be able to complete this little task, a first for us, ENJOY.

She's is differently a beauty!​
Even though the rat line jig, is not your invention, I thank you for showing us all, that great idea. I'll be using that idea when it's time to do the Rats on my Royal Caroline........ which will many years from now! I have copied a photo, so I can use it when I'm up to that stage.

I did believe that my Ship Mater would like to see just how I approached the Upper Bowsprite Brace and how it came out. I have milled over this for a month or so trying to decide what way to build it and I do believe that I made the correct choice, ENJOY.

Back in the Old Ship Yard the little guys and I are continuing with the Rigging. We have built and installed the Back Braces for both the Upper and Main Top Mast. We have built and installed the Mizzen Yard with its Parrow Beads, the lift block assembly. The Upper Yard Double Bracing, and also the Upper Yard lift gear. We have also added and built a pair of Vang Pendants.



This little ship sure does have a huge amount of difference from all of the other ship that I have previously built, and it sure is taking a lot of research, not only that but these types of ships sure do have a huge amount of differences on the web and choosing the appropriate one is not always an easy task, ENJOY.

Not that also differences are shown in the web, but also wrong and/or inaccurate rigging examples.......sometimes a lot of research is necessary to make it as correct as possible......once more you are showing a great workmanship......only some more steps and you can finish the model

I do thank you very much for your visit to my build log. Also for your very kind words and overly nice comments. Yes, I do want my Golden Hind to be correct as possible. I do realize that by adding a wheel and binnacle to my ship that this is not correct, but then again I did want these on my ship as both replicas do have a wheel.

Yes, the rigging is a great challenge and I am trying to follow my plans by Harold A. Underwood to keep it as close as possible. I have found a lot of difference in his drawings that I can not agree with but his overhaul look is quite good, ENJOY.

Just wanted to know something mate. How far do you live from West Edmonton Mall?
The reason why I'm ask this question is because for you to get this model so incredibly accurate, you or a friend must have taken a lots of photos of the replica there.
As I have stated earlier, every model that you do, your craftsmanship keeps on improving.
