Hello all in the SoS community.

I've just started in model shipbuilding and currently building Billings Boats Henriette Marie. Didn't want to start a monster project that was beyond me just yet. Plus my building area is limited to the dining table at the minute as kids, dog and the wife also need space the house, or so they tell me . I envy those of you with dedicated rooms and workshops, but I have to evict a daughter first before I get that .

Anyways, I'm glad I stumbled across your community and look forward to speaking with you all and following your builds.

All the best

Mike

Welcome aboard, mate. I've always found the Billings Boat range to be good value for the money and, for the most part, fun builds that will produce admirable results if I take my time and do my part. I'm sure you'll enjoy the Henriette Marie. There is plenty of help to be found here at SOS should you hit a rough patch. Wishing you smooth planks and taut lines.

Thanks Kilo66.

I'm enjoying the build, it progresses slowly but steadily. I've yet to get my head around the fine art of planking, but the beauty of this kit is the hull is painted so I can hide my sins.

After reading some posts I decided to buy Model Shipways shipwright series as a guide to building more complex models. I've got Occre's whaler Essex under the bed and Corel's SM53 5'5 racing yacht that was picked up from flea bay.

Follow this thread for images to show the family on how a workshop will not affect their living space. :p
I plan to show the FPO the images of Tobias's and Atkin's workshop and protest that confining me to the dining table is a travesty and nothing short of oppression of my modelling rights ROTF

I am one of the lucky ones, we downsized to a smaller home my
workroom became a double door closet , just perfect for my
shipmodeling. I am presently building the clipper ship Flying
Fish. I turned 92 years of age on the 21st , perhaps at 92 that's the
best place for me is in a closet. Enjoy a Merry .Christmas ,
Cheers Winova
