Hi, everyone! My name is Denver. I use She/They pronouns, and I live in Southwest Iowa. I mainly focus on paper models, but I have a couple of grail models that I want to eventually build. One of those is the SS Red Oak Victory, and the other is the Kaiser Wilhelm der Grosse.

Welcome aboard, Dendinius, from Philadelphia PA! There are many great resources for paper / cardstock modeling on this site. You should check out the index of Build Logs for Paper Model Kits on this site, which has dozens of paper kit models that you might find of interest. Here is the link to the index:

Also, if you are not yet familiar with the Dutch gentleman and SoS member, Ab Hoving, he is the "master" of paper / cardstock models, having written several books on building many different models from paper. His books are reviewed extremely well and he also has some videos on YouTube. He is also very generous to provide his years of wisdom to help many builders on this site, especially those working on Dutch vessels from the 17th and 18th centuries.

Here is a link to a post that Ab Hoving shared about why he is so committed to advancing paper model builds. It includes a scratch build log of a historic Dutch "fish-hooker" vessel that shows his handiwork. It's called "Ever considered to scratch-build from card?"

Good luck! Please ask questions, as the members here are friendly and helpful.

*gladly bookmarks both suggested links* I have plans for the USS Gage, which is also a Victory Ship, which I plan on utilizing in my paper model build for the SS Red Oak Victory someday, but for right now, I'm bouncing between numerous projects (ADHD brain is never happy sticking with just one project at a time lol). I also have a bucket list goal of visiting the SS Red Oak Victory in person.

Dendinius - I found this interesting list of ship design plans at the San Francisco Maritime Museum. There are about 4 or 5 sets of ship plans for Victory Ships, with ship designations starting with AP. These might be helpful as you start to build your paper models of the Gage and the Red Oak Victory. Fair winds and full sails!
