If I lived in your area I would spend half my life in Preble Hall and the other half in St. Michaels. There is such a great source of history there, I envy that you can take advantage of treasure troves of models and information. Good luck with your build. I would have guessed you would start with a Skipjack or Sharpie like below considering where you live.

Actually I took a ride on a Skipjack at the Calvert Marine Museum, you’re right….tons of History here. Civil War too!
