Hi everyone,
Greetings from Cape Town, South Africa.
I am a newbie to this group and model ships/boats but an old hand at model car and truck kits, mainly 1/8 scale. Been building those for decades. 1/8 is definitely my chosen scale of building.
The turn to boats is because I acquired two Amati boat kits in 1/8 scale, the Arno Ferrari Hydroplane and the Riva Runabout.
I am starting with the Arno Ferrari Hydroplane, and will start a build thread on that shortly. I have a 3D printed Ferrari engine to install in that model.
For the Riva Runabout I have a 1/8 Lamborghini engine for installation, just as Ferruccio Lamborghini did on his actual Riva Runabout.
I am also buying a Dumas Chris Craft 1949 Racing Runabout kit, also in 1/8 scale. For that I will install a Chevy or Ford engine.

Nice to have you with us Solyrus and all the way from Cape Town to boot. The age of computer communication never ceases to amaze me. Hope you will post some pictures of what your up to. The old runabouts were beautiful and generally fast too. Love 'em. Grand Pa had a 16' Garwood back in the day. That was really fun.
