This model Gretel from Mamoli is a very nice kit.
I really like the drawings.
It’s a small pleasure craft made for the small lakes and Archipelago in Sweden.
Mamoli base the kit from F H Chapmans famous work “architecture Navalis mercatoria” a folio of different ship drawings, types of vessels he made in ca 1760.
There is no named yacht Gretel in the reality but the lines and rigging is inspired from this book.
It’s not made straight from the box, made some things on my own like figurehead and windows.
The pictures are a mix of before and after improvements.

That is a lovely boat! Nice work with the carvings! I particularly admire how you rendered the stern ornamentation! Well done!

Here is some more photos of the rigging
In the drawing there is no braces for the topsail?
Maybe there wasn’t on this type of rig?
Anyway struggling on.

Can it be, that you missed to upload the mentioned photos?

Here is som more rigging.
I have fit the topsail sheets going through blocks.
I don’t know really? The plan showing rigging with sails and not where you take down the loose sailrigging.

Some more pics from the rigging.
I put the topsail clew sheets through the blocks.
It will soon be ready,I feel this project took incredible long time to finishing.
More photos to come.

A very nice job!! Am I correct that you have enhanced the basic kit with many scratch built details?

Roger

Thanks Roger

Yes its the basic kit but I made some details by my self, like figurehead and the lights at the cabin and some scrollwork.
I feel that you have hands free to make things on your own when there is no original vessel named Gretel.
I try to make it looking a bit more realistic with some more details and coloring.

Thanks yes i try to understand how it works really, the plans didn’t gave me details about things like that.
I have some books about rigging of author Lennarth Petersson “rigging period ship models”
I don’t really know if they had this type of out haul on a small pleasure-craft like this? But I stayed with it.
I think it’s interesting to look at a model even if it’s small and cheap to look at details thats make the model looking not only like a quick fix out of the box.
