We all had paths that lead us somewhere...
Many Modelers are dreamers, and I know, I find old shows to watch or listen to while modeling, it brings you back to a quiet, happy time in your lives...
Plus you realize now how cheaply and poorly those shows were made.....

Every afternoon in fall of "55 while recovering from polio at home. Building models helped while away the otherwise tediously endless hours.

Subbuteo Football




A blast from the past this one, Subbuteo football, players had to be flicked at the ball.
I got the World Cup edition one Christmas with the corner takers, throw in takers and
floodlights then got the Liverpool team with Crimbo money, constantly gluing players
back on thier stands, no superglue in those days !!
Imagine giving a 14 year old this for Christmas these days "Where's the joypad ?
Where's the Joysticks ?, Where's the VR headset ?"

I remember watching black and white Superman series as a kid. No special effects save I presume a small trampoline that he would jump on as he “flew” out the window. Editing never quite cut out his legs dropping down as he cleared the sill.

dick tracy. gumbi. marx brothers. Godzilla. dina shaw show. fred astair n ginger rogers movies n b&w musicals. steamboat willie cartoons.

our b&w tv with a tiny round screen, it was the only tv in the building with a fresnel lens to enlarge the image. neighbors hung out with us every night to watch their favorite shows till us kids went to bed.

tv stations signed off with the star spangle banner then the beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee indian head... then the snow when they shut down.

my job was to take the tv tubes to the drug store to test m when the tv went crazy to get new ones, reb box rca, for 10 cents each.

Just as cute as Carmen Jimenez on American Bandstand with her streak of white hair. Watching old clips of the show, I do not understand why I liked it. They were the worst dancers on TV and brainless with their comments. Oh yeah, I forgot, they were teenagers, so pretty much normal and just like the rest of us at that age.
