Today arrived a future build in the Dockyard.
So I thought apt to give an unboxing and small review of my own personal opinion of the parts.
This was technically bought second hand but nothing has been used, so every piece of wood, brass, cast metal threaded etc are as New.
While the instructions are in different languages including English they aren't great only touching on the basics, so this kit is definitely not a first time kit.
However if you have a bit of knowledge and experience working with wood and the ability to read and measure plans then there is more than enough to complete this kit.
Probably my only gripe if one at all is that not for the first time there maybe a couple of dowels for masting missing However given the price I bought it for this is not a problem as these are easily replaced.
All measurements should taken from the drawings as I say the instructions only give the basics.
That said I am impressed with the kit there are a lot of different types of wood here and slightly different planking system regards the decks where there is a King centre plank amongst others.
I have included photos below any questions I will try and answer as best I can.
Completed Ship measurements on box.
Length - 770mm, Height - 615mm, Breadth 350mm.

There are No sails in this kit.

Bellona from Shipyard company which makes cardboard/paper models is 1/96 and is 82cm long. If you would want to add saills with small adjustments I think they can be compatible

Hi there

Whenever I start this build I will probably calculate the size of the sails when the Masts and yards are made which isn't too difficult. Thanks again for your helpful suggestion though

Congratulations on the purchase.A good model, a beautiful ship.I want to mention very detailed instructions and assembly plans of the company Korel.I made such a model according to plans. Now he's decorating someone's collection.

This kit is a great basis for upgrading with scratch details. I would certainly get rid of that rigging thread and purchase some better stuff.
Oh yes I totally agree. Like the Occre Endeavour I am building just now I replaced their rigging thread as well.
I usually use either Amati or Caldercraft rigging thread for all my kits wood or plastic.

Thanks again Bryan.

I've always been fascinated by this beautiful ship ever since I saw a massive painting of her in a restaurant in Condado Beach , Puerto Rico near Old San Juan. In the painting she was bombarding what looked like El Morro Castillo. Ever since I've tried to identify this painting and possibly buy a print. My efforts have been fruitless after writing to several galleries. Perhaps someone here may have some information of this painting or point me in the right direction.
Happy building this great old ship
