H.M.S Enterprise / Enterprize. 1:96 (Modelship Dockyard)

They look like the mast steps. If they are not in the kit, maybe make your own.

Thank you. Phew!

Neil,
I just discovered your build...Wow, impressive. I will follow you closely, especially since I (actually several of us) are going to be building Dockyards' HMS Enterprize in 1:48 scale. The kits will be shipping starting this week-end according to Victor. I am excited ! If my build can be half as good as yours, I will be satisfied. Grant has already started on CAF's 1:48 Enterprize....I guess we are all on this Enterprise together......
Allan, I designate you Chief Detail Engineer and Researcher, and I hope you will keep us correct when we start our build. Be ruthless...Maybe I should call you Chief Herding Dog ! You are awesome.
Right now, I am re-conforming my shop to make it more efficient (for when I start on the Enterprize).....One can accumulate so much stuff !
Cheers

Thank you kindly Alex. I just hope any obsession I and others may have in doing research and sharing the details does not offend anyone even in the slightest. I fully realize it is a hobby for the vast majority and some builders are interested in accuracy, some not so much. And that is as it should be with a hobby, we all get to choose. Those members here with years of research experience are only trying to offer choices, never decrees, for those that are interested.

Little bit more done in the past few days.
Took a while to find the right plates but I am a bit slow. ;)
All coming together nicely although I did drift from the plans a bit as there is a part of the ships rooms missing.
I’m not going for a museum piece here, just enjoying the hobby.

Neil,
You are building an impressive structure at lightning speed ! Your joinery is beautiful; it looks like all the beams and lodging knees fit well lengthwise.
I noticed that a couple of the lodging knees on the larboard side (about beam # 6 from the bow) are not even with their corresponding beam...Were all the sheets where the parts were located milled to the same thickness? Are you planning on planking this deck?
I don't see any notches on the beams for the carlings; cutting them in will slow you down a bit.....

Congrats. impressive work.

Hi Alex. Thank you for the compliment.
Beam 6ish has now been corrected. The lodging knee dropped a bit as I chamfered it.
Might put a few planks here and there but I want to be able to look deep right into the ship.
As for the curling’s….. not gonna notch them just butt them.
I’m getting too old and my health is going downhill slowly . Few issues there. So just enjoying the build for what it is. One of my hobbies !
This started out as a non museum build piece but still enjoying the process.
Probably build it and bin it:D:p:D

Good morning Neil. Very impressive work. I have a strange question. Is this the same enterprise as the CaF model I am building as I have a Lion figurehead and your is a person?

Hi Grant. Two different model companies I think. Not too sure which one is an accurate take on the ship.
Enterprize's original plan (https://collections.rmg.co.uk/media/547/635/j6316.jpg) shows no figurehead. The Medea, of the very same class, here below, hints a human figurehead. So... who knows? View attachment 506603
Hello Gentlemen. Let’s go with “who knows” until someone in the know tells us otherwise :D:D. Allan (@AllanKP69) certainly knows these ships….any ideas. Cheers Grant
