About 15 years ago I built Lauck Street Shipyard’s Halifax and Fair American. The models were excellent and genuine fun to make.

I’ve just been in my storage shed and found a box with leftover Lauck St parts. These include building jigs for both Fair American and Halifax. There are also the 10 pages of Plans for Halifax, the 2 CDs as well as the Practicum. Included in the plans are sheets showing each of the laser cut or routed components. For Fair American, all you get is the base of the jig as shown in the photos. Both jigs have been used, and careful clean-up of rib remnants (which were epoxied in place) will be needed.

If you are interested in trying your hand at a scratch-built model, these would be an excellent way to get started, particularly on Halifax. Let me know if you’d like them and make a reasonable offer. The parts come in the old Halifax box, and I would anticipate shipping to be around $28. I’ve included a photo of the completed Halifax which has just arrived back here for a minor refit.
