I've always loved model making but had never tried the one genre that I had admired most - the wooden scale ships. So in early December I got the Fram from Occre. I had ordered it earlier, but it got stuck in customs for 2 months (it didn't occur to me it would actually come from Spain).

I'll have to post more pics later, but in the past few weeks I've made slow progress (work, life, holidays and such)

Welcome aboard. Would enjoy seeing more photos as you progress.

I'm hoping to get back to it tomorrow! I have the week off and the girls are going to visit the brother-in-law/uncle, so I'll have the house to myself...so Scotch and hobbies all week!

I'll have some more updates - this past week I had off so it was the hobbies given how cold it was outside: scotch, movies, and models!

I was going to skip the step of putting on the veneers, but I decided just to do it and I love the look. I was looking at how this member did it:
https://shipsofscale.com/sosforums/threads/fram-by-occre.16802/ and he had skipped the veneers.

I'm debating on if I should paint it - I have to assume that the original Fram wasn't painted, but the most current version in the museum is painted the same way the kit has it

I made a few mistakes around the keel tie in to the stern and bow, but I have ideas on how to fix that and tighten it up. I have to sand this part down and I was gonna put the oil on it (and the deck) - I'll judge how I like it and then decide about the painting.

should I create a build log post for this?

EDIT: I forgot to mention, I'm loving the hobby so far (though I've always loved models, this one in particular I really enjoy)
