Since I have developed my interest in scalemodel ships I have this ongoing battle of the mind. Scale figures or ships, scal figures or ships? When I do work on a model figure, I think about the ship I would like to do next and how to devote my life (the few years that remain) expanding my interest in maritime history and the construction of scale model ships. And then, when I am busy with a sub. or a ship then the old tussle starts again... ships are not "arty" enough, I need to do figures. And I have an extremely uncomfortable relationship with painting faces! This is an ongoing to and thro that caused significant distress and even bouts of depression. And then some would say, you do not have to choose, why not do both? And I respect that, but - with this ADHD brain? Nope this brain works on either or ... And then there are aircraft, Helicopters to be precise Thompson ... Would love to hear from my fellow ship mates.

Building ship models is my avocation and painting 54mm military figures is a hobby that I enjoy. So, how to combine the two? I’m not a fan of Lille guys climbing ratlines but a figure or two is a way to add interest and context to a model. My solution is to include a correctly scaled and uniformed figure on the nameplate.
