I used to model when I was younger and after a long hiatus I thought I would like to do some wooden ships. Previously only did plastic military models.after some humming and haaing and with my mind set on the de agostini Vasa (being of Scandinavian descent) I started watching the build log and pretty much immediately came to the conclusion that was beyond my skills. So ended up with an AL Endeavor longboat. Part way through I ran into time problems. So not enough time to do it. Work stresses and moving our house took precedence and my wife started having medical issues. Over-the next few years I started looking online and ended up picking up some more models from estate sales. Then a friend asked if I wanted some that he had been given. I'm still time poor but am currently building a mancave/office/hobbies room. I need to finish this to have room to do my hobbies and to move all my accumulated models out of the house.
To put it into perspective I have approx 30 ships to build. Most of the bigger ones were started before I got them but mostly at the start of the planking.
I have HMS victory, Danebrog, 3 x Cutty Sark, Endeavor, Danmark, Sovereign of the seas and many smaller ones. I also picked up a very early Billing boat Vasa which I won't attempt as it's not got the fittings kit. Some of these are in excess of 40 years old.
I think I currently have enough to tide me well into retirement
