Hello everyone!

I am Ronald from the Netherlands and have been a member here for a while, but actually only as a "reader". I used to be more active on MSW, but due to recent events, obviously not right now. Perhaps this is a good time to become a bit more active here. I hope that MSW will eventually come back online, because it is always good to have multiple places with information.

A few facts about myself... I am 42 years old, from the Netherlands, and I think I have been involved in ship model building since around 2015. This has varied in periods from being very active to not doing it for months at a time. My first model was the HMS Pickle by Caldercraft, which I managed to complete successfully. It is proudly displayed here in the living room. After that, I tinkered around with other kits, including a half-finished Pegasus by Amati. But I wasn't really satisfied with my work on that one. Then Chris Watton came along with the HMS Sphinx, and I thought that was a really nice kit; the upgrade in quality also really appealed to me. The Vanguard kits aren't cheap, but I eventually treated myself to one, and I am very satisfied with this kit. I am currently working on the Sphinx... progress is very slow, but that is because I want to get everything out of this kit that I am currently capable of and have within me (and to justify the cost, haha).

So I will open a build log for this kit....since my old one on MSW has unfortunately vanished into thin air. What surprised me is that, at first glance, I haven't seen a Sphinx build log here yet, so perhaps it would be nice for other people to see how the kit is put together. I have already made good progress in the build, so the first half of the log will be more of a photo report than a detailed description of the ins and outs.

And ofcourse...I have been reading along a bit with the comments in the topics about the hack at MSW, and was initially a bit hesitant to post here, partly due to the negativity regarding MSW (primarily about the leadership). Furthermore, I have no opinion on the experiences of the other banned members since I do not know exactly what happened. But apparently, there is still a lot of lingering resentment. I personally have never experienced any problems at MSW and hope that they will return soon. And I hope that everyone finds their way through this and can perhaps let go of the pain that has been caused.

Anyway...that's it :)

Hoi Ronald,
A warm welcome and I think you are already familiar with this forum.
So I believe that you feel at home here and see that you started your blog.
Greetz,
Peter
