Hi everybody!

I can't claim to be much of a model builder, but I've been lurking and appreciating several great build threads here for a little while. My father is an enthusiastic model ship builder though, and my mom tasked me with finding and ordering a suitable Bluenose schooner kit for him as a birthday gift, as that particular hull shape has become sort of an obsession of his! This lead me to the Yuan Qing 1/72 POF kit, and then subsequently to this forum.

I've just received the YQ kit today and am pretty impressed with it given my layman's understanding of the subject matter. Because my dad is not very internet savvy (he's not helpless, just uninterested, haha) I've joined here so that I might be able to help him as sort of a conduit of information for his new kit. Dad's birthday is coming up 12/20, so I'll have a couple more weeks to find out all I can about any pitfalls or common mistakes and try to take note of them. This forum has already helped immensely with a user-translation of the instruction manual, and I'll be looking into other tips specific to this kit.

I hope that during the course of his build I might be permitted to share progress photos here, and even more usefully be allowed to ask a few questions of those who have already built this kit. Thank you all in advance for your patience with a clueless newb!

Cheers, Jeremy

also from my side a warm welcome here on board of our forum
