I've yet to build a model ship. I saw the photos of the James Caird model build on your site. Wow ! I co-authored a play about the Shackleton Expedition (it's been produced several times) which is where my interest starts. Building a model of the James Caird should help further enhance my imagination about this amazing true to life adventure story.

Wanting to build a ship to learn about it sets you up perfectly. The more you learn of her history, the more detail you'll want to add to the model. I'd say that starting with a ship you want to learn about is perfect.
