Hello, my name is Tom and I like to build / make things.

I have been modelling in one form or another since I was about 5 years old. Almost anything radio controlled has been tried, a couple of scale boats (static) have been done many years ago, and I also had a machine shop in the basement not all that long ago and did some working steam engines of various types including a beam engine of the type that used to pump the mines dry in Cornwall, and power different types of industrial shops. I dabbled in scale wooden wagons for a while as well. They were all made from scratch.

Foe health reasons, that has all gone by the wayside and I now play with 3d printers making pendulum type clocks, spinning wheel and loom parts, and anything that looks interesting to me. Earlier today I followed a link on here to some cannon files and one is now being printed to see how it goes.I look forward to learning a lot here,

I too have built many types things as RC over the years. Cars, Planes, Boats, Tanks, and maybe the most interesting, a motorcycle.

Thank You! I was interested in the r/c motorcycle, but never quite got there. R/c gliders were my passion at one point and are still my favourite, although some of the new r/c construction equipment could get me motivated.

Whereabouts in Ontario. We got a good model ship group here in Ottawa. Guys do a wide variety of work. cheers

I had a Sophisticated Lady and an Ace Quasoar. I also had one from Robbe for a while. :)
 
Welcome to the ward. We were up in Omemee camping this summer. The Admiral and myself looking up the way maybe to retire…. Should be able to find somewhere to run an RC with all those lakes and rivers that way

Yes, there is lots of water around here, and lots of weeds as well. There are a couple of r/c plane clubs in the area. There was a good model boat club as well, but Covid and Olde Age have pretty much put paid to that now.
