A couple of decades ago, I picked up the Model Shipways New York Pilot Boat Phantom 1868 1/96 scale. Made minimal progress, then shelved the model.
Now that retirement is staring me in the face, and with some gentle prodding from SWMBO, I feel compelled to pick it back up again.
And with the wonders of the internet, there is more information available. I've already managed to download the Passaro practicum - along with locating others 'build documentations'. These should be a great assistance and motivators in my endeavor.
I was an avid plastic modeler; ships, planes, automobiles since my youth.
Wish me luck ;-)

Welcome to SoS. Love your neck of the woods, especially the days fresh water fishing San Vincente Reservoir and going salt water fishing for albacore out of H&M Landing with my boys a friends

Like you I bought a wood ship model kit a few decades ago and shelved it after realizing my years of doing plastic model cars, airplanes, and ships didn’t prepare me for working in wood. Now retired and with the benefit of the Internet I was able to complete the wood ship model and am hooked. Good luck from Monterey!
