Hello

Yes! Start a build log on this forum with pictures and work updates and we will be able to make suggestions as you go along. We don't see many galley builders here, but I have long been a fan of ancient Greek oared vessels. You really want the books shown below. They will be a benefit in understanding how the constuction of an actual galley compares to the bireme you are building. If you have any specific questions, please ask!

The Age of the Galley

This book covers more story on galleys and their uses than actual construction.

Oared Fighting Ships by R.C. Anderson

This book covers the technical aspects of galley building.

One thing to know up front is that your model is NOT how a real bireme was constructed, laying planks over a frame. The real ship was constructed with the edges of the planks joined by thosands of tenons along the edges, like using a biscuit joiner in furniture making. The hull was reinforced using strengthening timbers and the framework supporting the rowers and deck on the inside. The Amati models interior framework makes the model possible to build, because building a model this small using the original methods is absolutely insane. Below is a speed-build that might help you see how the model goes together.

Some more video help, a short series of videos on building the Amati model bireme.

Welcome. As suggested by Kurt, please start a build log. The only thing I know about biremes and triremes is from movies like Ben Hur so I look forward to learning more about them with your log.
