Hello to all.
I am a new member and new to model ships. I used to make plastic models as a kid and decided to try wooden models at this stage in my life (59 years old).
I have always wanted a real looking tall ship and figured that maybe the time is right to learn this craft and make one (or two or three).
I am really excited to start learning this hobby.

Welcome to SoS. Keep in mind that for every hour you spend researching here at SoS on builds for beginners you will save MANY hours of agita by jumping too far ahead for the first couple builds. Simpler is usually a positive thing (and smaller investment in money and time) when it comes to the first projects.

Welcome to the forums !
We all look forward to seeing your builds and progress !

Welcome from Philadelphia US! I am also a beginner...been building wooden boat models for less than a year. The best way to use this site is to look for build logs of ships you might be interested in. There are many build logs for the famous ships (HMS Victory, U.S.S. Constitution, SantissimaTrinidad) and some obscure boats too. Then do build logs of your own builds to get friendly feedback on your progress. I've done 3 build logs already and I have learned a great deal about this craft from the great wooden ship model builders on this site.

Hi ZachclarkFez, a warm welcome from me too! As a freshman I already found a lot of helpful info.
