I am at the point where I am ready to install the Quarter Knees and Seat and Thwart Frames.

The instructions only show the placement of one of the Tick Strips, the longest. Initially the rest were unclear.

Attempting a little deduction, I have placed the other three Tick Strips.

I am not convinced they are in the correct locations. Comparing my estimated placement of the strips against a photo of the placed frames, I am definitely not sure.

The first strip, with Bottom Frames 1 and 2 listed, is placed as indicated in a photo in the instructions.
The second longest strip I aligned to the first strip, so that the two #2s are aligned. With the #2s aligned, Frames A and B seem to line up about right.

HOWEVER, bottom Frame #3 and seat/thwart Frames C and D align against/through the forward end of the dagger board case. Back to that in a moment.

The small Tick Strip has a notation next to it in the instructions to place it next to the Case. However, that is labeled as 1. #1 is at the bow. Is it a typo? Should it be #3? Which brings me back to the second strip.

According to the photo in the instructions, those frames should be aft and abeam of the case. (See below)

Labeled in Blue are how the cut sheet labels the frames, and as inferred by the Tick Strips. Labeled in Red are where the frames align if I place the Tick Strips as I did in the first image.

I am inclined to place Frames 1, 2, A, and B according to the strips, with one adjustment. The spacing between 1 and 2 need to support the Mast Step. Placing the Mast Step against the strip the placement of the two frames are too far apart to support the mast step. I plan on moving frame 1 aft a bit to better support the step.

Now, we come to frames 3, C, and D. I am confused, as stated above. The number 1 on the strip aft of the case: Is it a typo, and meant to be 3? In any event, I plan on placing frames 3, C and D as indicated in the instruction photo, but using the spacing as indicated on the strip.

Finally, Frames E. They aft edges appear to align with the forward tip of the aft transom knee; while the strip has the forward edges of the frames about 3mm behind the forward end of the knee.

I am fully planning on making the adjustments indicated above in the placement of the frames. I still have the main question: Am I placing the Tick Strips correctly, or am I missing something?

Cheers

Ed,

To be honest I do not remember having a difficult time with the tick strip. I checked back into my build guide and did not see anything specific. I do have a picture of the thwarts and mast step in position. This worked out for me. You can look at it in relationship to the daggerboard case and it may provide some answers/ reassurance.
