Good Afternoon I'm new to this Group.
I'm looking for help for my 92 year old Dad.
He bought Arkit Baltik 1753 # 201 at least 20 years ago and is now building it. The problem he's encountering is that the only assembly instructions are in Spanish. He can actually speak Spanish, however the Technical Spanish used in the kit is beyond his conversational Spanish. My searches for Arkit by Panther Enterprises have failed, guessing they're long gone. Anyone have any ideas? Maybe someone has the kit and could photograph the English instructions? Many thanks in Advance Jim Jr in Montreal, Quebec for Jim Sr in Hamilton, Ontario.

First of all, what type of kit is this? There are two probabilities plank on bulkhead or solid hull.

You will find examples of both type here on the forum. The steps for building a model follow a similar pattern, different for each type. There are also numerous books that you can buy about building models from kits.

first of all a warm welcome here on board of our forum

I have the Baltik kit at home (30 years ago started, but never finished), so I guess I have "a" instruction inside the box, but do not know in which language - maybe it is german - when I remember correctly it was some pages written with a typewriter...... I can check
But I guess german language will not help so much

Hi Roger, plank on bulkhead, BTW what's a "false keel"

Take a look at this topic - "false keel" of a PlankOnBulkhead (POB) model ship

Take also a look at this attached doc, which is explaing in a very good way the basic techniques

The “False Keel” is more properly a Spine. The bulkheads are glued to it to form the skeleton to be planked. Your father is old enough to remember building the old tissue covered balsa airplanes in his youth. Similar construction except wood instead of tissue.

Aristo-Craft has (had?) a model of the same ship and same scale. Could there be a relationship?

Hey; Aristo-Craft imported the Arkit models and gave them their name. This means that they are the same

Are the Aristo-Craft instructions in English? Maybe that would help the OP

Unfortunately all the instructions for the Baltik that I have are in Castilian, that is, in Spanish.
Throughout various stages of this company, the instructions were initially simple typewritten texts, then they were updated with better texts and photos of the masts, (I don't know which one you have.)
The Baltik is from the same series as the Chaleur (1764), the Hallifax (1765) or the Sultana (1768) in case that helps you.
The Baltik was made based on the plans of the PEABODY MUSEUM AT SALEM in Massachusetts whose reproductions were published in 1927, as if to say yesterday. You can look it up.
On the other hand, Aristo-Craft sold this model and others from Arkit in the USA and without a doubt the instructions would be in English for that market.
I am providing you with two files, one with photos of the assembly instructions (they only made the masts) and another with text in English but of the similar Dapper Tom model, also called Baltimore Clipper.
I hope I have helped you, it has been a lot of work.

Thank you very much! I'll share with my Dad and look into the Aristo-Craft angle.
Thanks again.

MalibuJim, I was hoping to help you and get some help too. First, I saw this post and have what you needed and will attach it, even though you have what you needed already. Mine are a little clearer. Second, do you know if your father has already started on his ship build? My problem, is that I have the same kit minus the hull Parts. I was hoping it would be possible for you or your father to trace out those parts for me and send them so that I can start and continue my build of the Baltik 1753.

Here are the diagrams, best seen on an iPad
Just hoping for a copy of thos pieces I’m missing from my kit! Scaled pics. Or copies will work.
Thanks, Jerry
