I'm very new at wooden ship model building, I have played around with plastic models mainly military aircraft.
I'm a Veteran looking to escape into ship building and I'm so inspired by people like yourselves online i actually watch a guy in the UK showing step by step build of HMS Victory on YouTube
As I'm on a Veteran pension I decided to start with a cheap kit ($15 Aus) Temu
I think but been extremely diligent by applying the principles i have picked up. A practice run for a while hopefully getting it down pat to eventually tackle HMS Endeavour, HMS Bounty.
Thanks for having me

Hi Spud, good to have another Aussie on board. I also am a veteran - are you Navy? If so, when did you serve?
Regards, Bob (SA)

Hi Bob no actually served within the Corp of Infantry, was a section commander deployed to Somalia Christmas eve from Townsville 1992.
Yes what great timing, we deployed on the HMAS Jervis Bay. I served from 1987 - 1998 medically discharged from extreme hearing loss among other ailments.

G’day Spud, welcome.
Great to see retired servicemen doing well and enjoying life.
I am not ex navy but did my time at Cockatoo Island Dockyard in the drawing office.
We refitted the submarine fleet - Oberon Class subs.
And HMAS Success was built during my time on the island also.
Was lucky enough to be involved in initial sea trials prior to official handover to the navy.
Great memories.
