Luxury yachts have been built since ancient times. Since the 16th century, the Dutch have excelled in this, and their yachts have become the model for luxurious representative ships that all other nations have followed. Their construction was due to the fabulous wealth made from maritime trade of the Republic of the Seven Provinces of the United Netherlands (1581-1795). These luxury ships served not just wealth merchants but also for transporting high officials, officers and representatives of business companies to official meetings or ceremonies.
The yachts were designed for cruising rivers, estuaries or on the sea near the coast. The hull lengths ranged from 15 - 21 m in length. The Statnyachts were richly decorated in the style preferred by their owner, and they provided all the luxuries needed for cruising, including decent accommodation with comfortable beds, kitchen and dining facilities, and heating.
The model of the Statenjacht Utrecht is based on plans from 1746 by the designer and naval architect Pieter van Zwijndregt. Originally, this ship was used by representatives of the United East India Company (VOC).
Between 1998 and 2003, a replica was to help about 100 unemployed people to learn traditional skills for employment.
The ship is docked from April to November in Volendam and in winter in Veilinghaven at Van Zijstweg in Utrecht.

G'day
I have just started building the Statenjacht from a kit from Kolderstok in wood.
For this model we also can offer sewed sails, wooden blocks and flags. According to book Die Niederlandische Jacht im 17. Jahrhundert by Werner Jaeger. We noticed that range of blocks is not accurate in this kit. Wish you nice model.

Now, you can download also the plans from the description of our model the link is on the bottom of the description:
