did some a lot of work this past week or so 20201105_184406.jpgHave mounted the back hand rails.( the front side just had an accident but nothing that cant be repaired) added the bodkins and anchor beams also the cannon doors and did the rudder roping. Will be spending the next week on making new chain plates as the copper ones I made will not blacken no matter what solution I use and even when heavily wire buffed. So easier to just do them again as the brass wire blackens well. In process of remounting the boats as the did not look right and foul the spare timbers that will be mounted above them. All things going well should be able to varnish the hull ready for fitting the masts and doing the rigging in the next 2 weeks.

Hello Again Been doing a little on the ship again and here are the results20201119_133701.jpgmaking the new chain blocks out of Brass wire20201119_133728.jpgI use a piece of dowel the size of the link I need and then wind the wire around it for enough links for 1 set of chain blocks. I then slip the wire off and cut each loop. The bend so in line and then place in the plier jaws and squash gently till you have the chain shape. Join them up and you have the chain blocks. For around the dead eyes I used a larger dowel and bent it around it so easy to slip on the dead eys and then slightly compress till fitted in the dead eye groove.

well the Endeavour is completed now just have to mount it in the display cabinet.
pictures following. Will be doing another build log but this one will be of the Bounty but it is not the usual Bounty as I have never seen a build log of this kit before and it will be bashed as per usual20210419_140344.jpg20210419_140406.jpg20210419_140429.jpg20210419_140454.jpg20210419_140517.jpg20210419_140540.jpg

now started the rigging . trying a new way as rigging from the stern instead from the bow. Seems to be working ok and makes it a little easier next is the main mastView attachment 212909View attachment 212910
Interesting method of completing the entire mizzen mast, sails and rigging first. I think if I was to do it that way I'd leave bowsprit off until last. It seems I always break the flying jib somehow.

yes I had the same problem with the bumpkins at the front

The sails really add to the ship are they the ones that came with the kit?
no the sails were all hand made as well, the kit had a very basic sail patterns and no running rigging design at all.
