HMS ALERT 1777 cutter POF by shota70 [COMPLETED BUILD]

good evening dear friends
Tonight I focused on the next step,
the light house for the powder room.
20220609_192241.jpg
At first I applied a little glue in the spaces between the wooden boards that make up the walls of the room.
20220609_192424.jpg
I'm doing this to create the strength and stability that are manifesmanifested in assembling the walls into a more stable room. after that I've separated the various parts that were supposed to make up the light house And paste step by step the house, except the windows.
20220609_203038.jpg20220609_203104.jpg
I made the windows separately, when I made the glass from a cut of a thick and transparent layer of nylon (a bag I received today from Ali Express).
I am assembled the windows on the house .

of course there is more work to be done so that the house is completely ready. Hopefully in the weekend that begins in our country tonight, I will be able to devote a few more hours to progress in the creative process.
I have a question, what I should do with this part 20220609_215037.jpg
Good night friends

I will watch closely to see how the glass house develops!

Good morning Shota,
When comparing your pictures of the lighthouse with Jimsky's, I couldn't help but notice your lighthouse shows the window to extend over the walls, while Jimsky's are aligned with the idea walls. Is there something I'm missing?

My dear friend
Thanks for the comment, I admit that I to noticed that there are difference . during the construction the lower panel board and the terms windows dictated the height of the windows at the top.
I'm in the midst of a dilemma regarding reinstalling the windows and in a different way.
Another notable difference is the type of wood, did Jimsky and Maarten use other wood than the kit manufacturer's?
I believe I will dismantle the windows and reassemble them.

good evening dear friends
Today I spent about 3 hours making repairs and upgrades to the light house structure. I first disassembled the light house into elements using alcohol.
20220610_153408.jpg
Next I used a sanding block originally used for nail care (six different levels of sanding material density). I actually sanded each part separately in the six sanding strips that make up the block.
20220610_164241.jpg
I paid close attention to the windows. After sanding for almost an hour and a half I started the work of reassembling. After looking at the photos I attached in yesterday's update I admit I did not like the way I placed the pieces of nylon in the windows (almost ugly). After some thought I decided to change a method: this time I cut a large piece of the same thick nylon that would actually stick to the inside of the window and over most of the area, rather than two small pieces inserted into the frame. I think the result comes out nicer.

After the glue dried I went back to sanding the light house to get a smoother and more beautiful surface. I will attach photos from this stage.

After I decided to apply on the light house wax that I purchased during my recent trip to New York.

20220610_210441.jpg This move was made to give the wood a more beautiful and deeper finish, without producing a drastic change in the color of the wood. I attach more pictures of the house after the wax has dried and also inside the ship.

I believe the work achieved a better result than yesterday and is also accurate. I will let you be impressed.
Wishing us all a pleasant and enjoyable weekend :)

Hi Shota, I hope you used that alcohol responsibly as you disassembled the light house. Brilliant work by the way.

Yes, Shota. I use my own wood, I made a couple of them, to choose from ;) BTW, great rebuild results! Bravo.

That's looking a lot more convincing.Thumbsup

good evening dear friends
Unfortunately in the last few days I have not been able to find a few hours to ship, there are some explanations:
physical weakness due to virus in the stomach, work and family matters.
So why am I writing to you?
I would like to share with you a device that my good friend and I designed and built for the sake of dealing with my difficulty in bending the ends of the hinges into a circle into which the hinge is inserted .
The solution we built has stages of work :
inserting the brass board in a groove at the end of which the metal rises diagonally, and lowering the hammer with a rounded end. At the end of this step we get a metal plate bent inwards. 20220616_202613.jpg20220616_202627.jpg
I then transfer the bent board to the rail in the other device at the end of which there is a rounded hole the push drags the board and forms the circle in which the hinge is inserted. Metal grooves have been made for both grooves that help in the process of moving the brass boards.

20220616_203009.jpg
The smallest width of the groove stands at about a millimeter and a half and can expand up to at least 3 millimeters.

This is my humble contribution to friends for your use in building models

Dear Alexander
The size and thin thickness of the brass plates made it very difficult to create a circle that I was happy with and the process was not uniform. Using this device I can produce widely and uniformly
