HMS HOOD first build

Wow, it's looking really fantastic! Great job!
One thing though.... I found this out during research for my own project recently... Hood never had a red bottom (boy, was I surprised). It was always either grey or black as that is all that the Peacock & Buchan's anti-fouling paint was supplied in.
Check out under "Below Waterline" section about 1/3 of the way down (although they do point out at the top to make any changes you want to make sure you are happy with your model, which is a great approach.

the hull is not quite the right shape, will get the next one right ,but overall I am reasonably happy, the Hood had so many small changes and refits through the years it is sometimes hard to know which one you are building.

It looks great! No one will ever complain about the hull shape. I can't wait to see it on the water : )

got the model on the water and balanced pretty good ,all 4 motors running and takes off forward well ,but does not
want to go in reverse ,just a lot of splashing, any suggestions.

how fast is it going forward as reverse should be a lot slower as it sounds like the props are cavitating when in reverse as tho are going to fast?

Hi David thanks for reply, thats what I was thinking .goes off like a rocket forward ,only have it in a small pool in the garden at present so when I go to reverse
it does not seem to do much ,but the motors are going very fast ,I will try to program it slower in the transmitter

My model of Canadian Engineer carries 40 pounds of lead pellets as ballast to put her down to where the prop and rudder are effective. When she is travelling full speed ahead and I pull full astern she continues travelling forward for a few meters and slowly stops before actually reversing due to her size and weight. The prop does cavitate a bit but that is natural. I agree, giver her commands a bit slower and she may respond better.

Hi Jim thanks for the comment ,my model only has 10kg of lead but I get what you are saying, putting it in the water for the first time
has has highlighted another problem that I need to fix before I can try again
