HMS Victory - 1/100 Heller [COMPLETED BUILD]

The gun carriages of the visible cannons are ready.
I started the boats.
More fight with the paint

Hi Moarein,
Nice painting on the carriages, did you scratch build the oars and what I am guessing is the long boat?
Cheers,
Stephen.

Hi Steve
Yes, the oars are a scratch build and the boat is the longest.
In fact, Victory's boats are 6, so I'll must to do 3 more from scratch too :)

I made a makeshift tub of nylon so I could immerse the whole body in the thinner to make the paint fall off more easily.
Seems like Costa Concordia
:)

During this time I continue with the boats.
The technology is classic - a balsa wood block is made, then ribs and cladding with pear slats

I removed the paint to 90%. It remained only around the nose - it is very slow process, although it soaked it for 48 hours in Meglio.
In the meantime, I'm working on the boats - the base it's made of several layers of balsa wood, the ribs are 1.5 mm maple wood, which I soaked for 48 hours in water to bend without breaking:

Hi Moarein,
Looking quite stripped now, well done. Ships boats are looking good , I have to remind myself how small they are, veneer might be suitable material for planking and ribs. You've got quite a challenge on your hands there, trying to paint the upper gun deck and sides with the main deck in place, along with installing the cannon, hard enough on the upper gun deck, quite a challenge on the mid and lower gun decks.
Cheers,
Stephen.

The ship was started by a friend of mine, who painted the hull with the colors seen in the photo.
I will remove them, and repaint it with the right yellow :)
The black paint also is not this black :)
I will use some very dark grey for the black :)
If you're interested, take a look at my Victory build log here. I'm painting using the new color scheme that was discovered in 2015 for the 1805 time period of Trafalgar. Here's the video from the Victory museum discussing the painting scheme.

Work on the hull and preparation for paint.
I removed all the factory-cast ornaments and "thickened" the hull at the gun ports.

I am very hesitant about which board the entrance should be on.
The anatomy of the ship is shown on the starboard side, but as far as I know - it depends on the year.
Please, if anyone knows where the damn entrance was in the period 1800 - 1820 let me say. :)))

Thanks :)
