On my last update, I did finish all planking, and' now I have painted it with water colors from [ MEEDEN ], I wasn't sure how it would take too wood, since these paints are more for canvas and paper, but they work, work really well and, since you caint get model master's paint, these you can mix any collar you want and thickness, you get 15 different shades, except copper, lucky for me I still had 2 botles of mm acriclic copper, so I painted the bottom [ the keel ]copper, then crimsom mixed with your ordinary red, turned out nice, just a bit above the water line, now there are 3 yellow's [ okra, mustard, and regular ] mixed a little of all three and painted the main frame, wow what a nice blend, made just enough to fill a standered jar, I wanted to give my victory that battle - beat up look after all it is a battle ship, wanted it to look like the last battle [ ADMRL. NELSON ] WAS IN AT HIS DETH.
I did get that effect, now I will be working on the guns, and science the kit did not come with any, well I used dowel rods, 4mm, drilled holes in the front, with my Dremel, [a must have ] painted them reddish-orange, then black. Now I have to figure out how to mount them on deck, so they look like trucks under them!
Idea's accepted. boatman Too

How are things across the big pond? Jimmy if I knew how to, I would do so, but I'm still working on color tv, next time one of my kids stop in all ask, that is the best I can do for you, but I only painted it, copper, because I neglected to get copper plating, just a little above the bottom, about 2 in.

I've been experimenting with copper paint as a base with green and others on top to represent verdegris, weed, algae etc. I am restricted by the advanced state of the model having omitted copperplating years ago when on the hull.

jimmy! if you can get copper plating, it well turns greenish on its own, what I did was take just a tad of green and a 1/2 tad of very thin black, or burnt amber /umber mix well, it may give it a better effect of barnyickel's, the problem I ran into, the wood drinks pain, or absorbs it, but right now my build looks like it just came the battle ADR. Nelson lost his life, I kinda like that idea, I may keep it that way. Try that solution on scrap, if it works please let me know. boat man too!:)Beer
