Never seen that kind of storage for stud booms. I wonder if that applies to Continental ships as well.Good morning. Had a break from rigging so made some studding booms. I had to use some kebab sticks (had a chicken kebab braai during one of our power failures so had some dowels to play with as I have no more resource left). The dowels are tapered down 3/4.
The studding sail booms are stowed to the main channel while not in use. Blue arrow.

Port fitting and the control block. This block runs to another block fitted on the wales(still to do).

At the stern of the boom there is another block for the line from the studding sail

There are two on the fore channel as well, however I am concerned how these will mess with my anchors, so I will wait before making the decision to add them or not.
Cheers Grant
Hammocks were quite the hassle on my Connie.Good morning. Hammocks . I relaid my hammocks vertically as the guys have shown me to be correct. Not neatly I just wanted to see if it will work.

I now know I can get these to work, just have to find a way to remake these without the round hole on top showing and will have to be nearer. There is no time limit on this build so I will look at other models and see what I can do.
I still think horizontal looks better but let’s get this correct.
Cheers Grant
I have loved watching the, progress here, and you are a very talented craftsman. Superb workmanshipGood morning

I use a small lighter and flick the flame on the fluff areas a number of times. This does not allow enough continuous flame for it to ignite.

Good morning Jack. I agree with you, however I have looked at other victory builds and two different plan layouts and all bring these two buntlines to the same bit. There will also be not enough bits by the belfry for the other remaining lines if these are belayed to two separate ones. It is times like this I wish I had purchased an accurate reference book. Ah well I have not sealed these with a touch of CA so I can still redo. Cheers GrantDefinitely separate Grant, on ship you would be in a world of misery and confusion if you belayed one over the other. Great work as usual. Cheers JJ.
Good morning Heinrich- you make me blush. I am learning my friend and I thank you for such a compliment. Piet is still in another league for sure. Thank you tho. Cheers GrantWhenever @pietsan Piet Sanders does rigging, I am always amazed by his knowledge of terminology. Now I can safely say that you are his equivalent when it comes to English naval terms for rigging - and that is no small compliment!
I know right!. Still loads to do. Man I’m having fun working out this tangle web Peter. Cheers GrantThe amount of rigging on this ship is ridiculous.
Good morning Vic. Good to “see” you again Vic. Thank you for this - means a lot. There are not too many people out there who spend so many hours on two stunning gifts (for your daughter and pastor)- says something.Sorry to say, I've missed 5 or 6 months of your build, Grant. Didn't get notifications, and was working hard on my Soleil and Galilee Boat. You're a great encourager and I've loved seeing your progress. I also like seeing how you present your build "warts and all." I think it helps others see potential pitfalls, and it doesn't detract from your excellent work.
Vic
Will come back to you on this one- need some translations firstBrennt nicht nur Fluffies, sondern auch das ganze Schiff! Entschuldige mein schlechtes Deutsch!
That is interesting. I think the British go it right as these large and heavy booms are out of the way of the rest of the ship clutter. I do think they carry risk of damage in heavy seas here tho. They do look cool stored here as well.Never seen that kind of storage for stud booms. I wonder if that applies to Continental ships as well.
The Hammocks! It took me a long time to work out how I could do them. I couldn’t get the individually laid ones to look reasonable. I saw another modeller use the canvas covered approach and I really enjoy them now.Hammocks were quite the hassle on my Connie.
Good morning Jimbo. Thank you for this compliment. Cheers GrantI have loved watching the, progress here, and you are a very talented craftsman. Superb workmanship
Thanks RobertWhat a fantastic build Grant !
Thank you Tobias.Good morning Grant, it looks fantastic. I really like your rigging, in general I envy the ability to rig. It's fascinating to see another piece come to life.
