This deck had the more powerful 32 pound guns, the Manger at forward was there to scrub the incoming anchor ropes, going towards aft was the Riding Bitts to hold the ship at anchor, next would be the outlet for the bilge pumps. the anchor ropes were attached to what is called the messenger rope and and controlled by the Capstan of which there are two, both connected to the Middle gun Deck, at the rear was the rudder controlled by ropes, cable and pulleys.
A complicated deck, must have been frightening in battle. Of course there is more to this deck then what I have written. Please excuse my ropey ropes!
