I have built several model ships beginning with the Cutty Sark in 1966, solid hull. My first scratch build was a model of my room mate's Star class racing boat. My last build was the Norse Love, by billings. She proudly sits on our mantel. My wife says I need another hobby, building and playing classical guitars while not gardening doesn't seem to be enough.
I have been lurking on this site and have decided to make myself visible. I would say I am a late beginning builder. Fortunately, I don't know that I cannot build a respectable model so I will probably try
I should add, I am 77 yrs of age, a retired Electronic Engineer.
 
I forgot to add that I too build model airplanes in my youth. I have a couple of sailplanes in storage, all having many hours of RC airtime. I have built a scratch build of a Waco-YMF but it has never flown. I also built telescopes for a while. One a 28 inch reflector. The mirror was re-figured from an infared telescope built for NASA. I have abandoned that endeavor as bed time is much too early
 
Welcome Warren, good to see another OKIE on the forum.

I live out east of town in LE Lincoln county.

Maybe we can visit one day and discuss our hobbies.

There used to be a local ship builders group in Edmond many years ago at old hobby shop on 15th, I think.

I lost track of the group when the shop closed, I used to go most Saturdays and do some work, and have fun time learning a lot.

Welcome to the group. I read the emails more than I work on ships, but I am trying to build a model too. Worked with wood doing repairs and stuff, but never built a model before. At 76 I'm trying for the first time.
 
Hi Warren,

I never sailed on a Star Boat but always wanted to. Designed in then1930’s this is a classic boat.

RC sailplanes, telescopes, you have the experience to tackle any ship modeling project. It will interesting to see what you choose.
