Hello all,

Started on this one:

Aircraft carrier Akagi in 1/700 scale.
I have the basic Tetra upgrade set for this kit.
I was thinking of getting the deck set with the PE deck supports, we'll see. It's a bit expensive and hard to get.

Started drilling out the port holes. Quite a few of those:

Some detail such as the moulded deck supports will also need removing to be replaced with PE.

Thanks for looking,
Peter

These japanese aircraft carriers are very interesting ships.

I will follow with big interest

Welcome aboard Peter,

Looking good, do you normally build to this scale?

Cheers,
Stephen.

Hi Peter,
Yes, the PE is very fiddly though it goes with every thing else at 1/700.
Looks like you did a nice job of the Tenryu. Thumbsup
I have a part finished Hasegawa 1\700 Ise battleship and I found everything tiny, I put it back in the box when it came to masking the deck fittings for painting, luckily I bought a deck mask, I will get back to it one day. :)

Cheers,
Stephen.

Yes, I found it easier to paint most things off ship:

Good luck with the Ise. Interesting ship.

Details need cleaning off to make room for the photo etch:

Would be a lot easier if all of the detail was to come off. However, it is only some detail that needs removing for the photo etch.

Hi Peter,

Looks like something went wrong, I can't see the photos.

Cheers,
Stephen.
Hi Stephen,

That's odd, I didn't do anything different to previous posts.
Can you see previous pictures ok?
(It looks ok from my browser)

Cheers,
Peter

Should be good now?

Copy image in Chrome used to upload ok to the forum.
Seems to have changed recently, at least on my computer.

At the moment, 'Copy Image' and 'Copy Image Address' behaves the same for me, it didn't use to do that.

I myself didn't spot anything wrong looking at my forum post.
Since the link works for me, the images also shows up just fine for me in the post.

Thanks. Good to hear that it's working.
Another posting test:
Still going a bit slow, ran into a small issue with the PE photoetch for one of the linoleum decks. Does not quite match with the gun turret support. Will need some jiggling..

Hi Peter,

That's disappointing, looking forward to seeing how you rectify the problem.

Cheers,
Stephen.
