If you are in North America, American Science and Surplus has some unfinished clarinet pieces made from African Blackwood-

These tubes could be cut down into about 1/4" square blanks for turning cannon, spars and other fittings, or other parts if you can work around the 1/2" hole down the center. It will take a little work and a little creativity to figure out what parts are hiding in there but it is a very nice wood to work with. I bought a few pieces and am happy with them. I tend to scavenge wood and other parts so these really appealed to me.
