Hi all ,
I have just joined and wanted to share information on a book that has been gathering dust on my book shelf for many years that I hope you may be able to use or find of interest .
It is called 'ArchitecuraNavalis Mercatoria ' and was first published in 1768 by Swedish naval architect Frederick Henri AF Chapman .

First published in 1768 this remarkable collection of sophisticated line drawings offers a fascinating look at the maritime world of the eighteenth century ,documenting merchant and naval ships from various countries .Seventy detailed illustrations chart vessels dimensions ,crew size ,storage capabilities and manner of rigging for packet ships,pleasure boats,privateers,frigates and other ships.
Frederick Henri AF Chapman (1721-1808) was a naval architect ,a vice-admiral in the Swedish navy and the Author of several books on shipbuilding.This volume constitutes an indispensable treatise for model shipbuilding ,naval historians and maritime enthusiasts as well as anyone who appreciates the art of drafting.
Dover (2006) republication of 62 plates from the edition originally published by Holmaie ,Stockholm ,1768 and the James Inman translation of Chapmans Tractat of Skepps-Byggeriet,1768 as originally published in A Treatise on Ship -Building (1820)

It has been reprinted today by www.doverpublications.com and ISBN -13-978-0-486-45155-0 , ISBN -10-0-486-45155-0
