Iron Rod Jackstay Leechline and Buntlines

In the first picture it shows the sail "roving" to the Iron rod jackstay... is this how it was done? I never really gave much thought into how the sail attached to the arms.

The second picture shows the inner/outer buntlines, and leechline. Were these lines on the front or back of the sail? If these lines were in the back, the blocks would be on the back part of the arm oriented down. If the lines were in front of the sail, the blocks would be on the top of the arm... so are the lines forward or aft of the sail?

the buntlines etc were in the front, so fore of the sails
