Are Rocket ships and planes a ship? I would say so. This model is an all original scratch-built Flash Gordon model I just completed. I had no plans. Just movie footage. I approached the design using my ship building experience in model ships. The interior frame work is not unlike a ship of sea. The challenge was making the interior shapes work with the outside of the rocket. The Hollywood movie interior sets did not make sense with the shape of the rocket. So I created the exterior and got creative to make things match up. I used Shapr 3D and ZBrush 3D software along with a Elegoo Mars 3 Pro printer to create this high detailed model. Excuse me if this post is a little off the ships of scale topics. The video shows the model build.

All the sci fi works referred to rocket ships and space ships, so yes, it's a ship.

Oddly, we refer to planes as planes, and air ships (boring as models) are the first ships that took to the air, and we can all see why they were so named. Real 'ships' that were in the air. Good name.

Very cool My first adult modeling project was a Flash Gordon rocketship- I made it from a couple of acrylic wine glasses and plastic spoons for the spats.

1950'S Hollywood movie Rocketship XM.
Looked up this movie and found the following description:

Amid a race to establish a lunar military base, the first manned spaceship bound for the moon veers off course and lands on Mars. Col. Floyd Graham (Lloyd Bridges) and his crew explore the planet, discover that it has been ravaged by bombs

Nice steering..... I hope Mr. Bridges was not at the helm when he was in the Coast Guard during WWII.

This movie seems like it would have been a good one to spoof on the old TV show Mystery Science Theater 3000.

It would be like the SS Minnow set out on a three hour tour from Hawaii and wound up in Lake Huron. I see now that my complaints about how bad Hollywood has gotten have been misplaced…
