Is there an easier way to spool rigging lines

I’ve been purchasing my rigging line and it comes in a loosely coiled package. I’m taking the line and re-spooling on a wooden spool. It is fraught with tangles and knots. Is there another way of doing this or any suggestions from anyone?

I think this is an old fishing line trick:
Cut 3 pieces of Amazon corrugated box cardboard about 2" x 4-6" and PVA glue them to a single unit.
Make the top and bottom cut with a flat depression with shoulders. Cut a slit for the end of the line and wind the line
on the board. Longer length - fewer rotations - be kinda loose so as to not warp the line.

Thanks for the reply, Jaager. But color me brain dead-I’m having a difficult time visualizing this. Do you have any pics you can post, please?
