Hi, I am new to ship modelling, and have just begun the Artesania Bounty 1/48. Although the laser-cut components are very accurate, the edges of the pieces have a black, burnt wood finish (obviously!). I am following a few Bounty builds by others, and a recomendation is to sand those edges to assist in adhession of glue or stain/varnish. I used a cheap cosmetic nail-filing board to tackle this task, as it is flat and therefore easy to avoid inadvertantly rounding the edges of the components. You can get them in packs of 10 or so, and when they clog up with the black residue they can just be disposed of.
Cheers, Phil

Yes - this is laser char good idea with the nail assessoire, but wit th etime it can also be costy, I am using fine grid sandpaper on a sanding block
BTW: a warm welcome here on board of our forum

Thank You.
The nail files I am using are cheap - just grit on stiff card. Pack of 10 off ebay set me back about $5AUD. With the fine sandpaper on a sanding block I found it difficult to ensure I kept it flat on the surface.
