Hello, dear friend! Let me share an idea.:)
Can you imagine how much those window frames weigh? It's unlikely there were so many strong men on the ship to lift such a heavy weight. At the beginning of the 18th century, glass was very thick and therefore heavy.
How were they secured? Hanging them on a hook? Right above the stern guns during battle? After the first cannon shot, this window will either shatter into pieces or fall on the heads of the gunners. :)
It is known that the British, having such stern guns, simply took out the window frames and carried them to a safe place.

Hi @iutar,
Thanks for your opinion.

I estimate that one window could have weighed about 40-50 kg. Which is really a lot, but manageable with a little force.
The opening of the windows is also indicated in the drawing by Boudriot and Delacroix.

I also found photos of La Hermione, which beautifully show how the windows opened and locked.

In this photo you can see that the windows are supported by a metal bar across the entire width of the window.

Yes, I know about that. I'm afraid Budriot miscalculated a bit. And Hermione's window frames are much lighter.
