LEGO Endurance

Speed build?
Nope, intermission from the SB and WB builds. I've almost given up on the USPS always dependable service. I orderd some stuff I need to work on those builds. Never arrived, it's been about five weeks. Instead I've spend quite a bit of time tracing packages that have left the on line store and not arrived. We used to get mail in a timely manner, not any more. I could ramble on and on.

FRUSTRATED

I see in quite a lot of your posts that you need replacement bricks. Is it that bad in this kit for such a price?
But for the overall view it’s a attractive build, Jan.
Regards, Peter
Hi Peter,

It's not as bad as it sounds. The kit has over 3000 pieces, bagged in twenty eight bags with an additional small packet in each bag. The bags are numbered and the manual is a step by step guide for assembly.
One can log on to LEGO's website, specify the kit number, identify the missing bricks and the bricks are promptly forward in the mail. I have built LEGOs big and small and have had to request replacement bricks in the past.

Out of the hundreds of bricks for this build, I had to request the bricks that made up the the side view mirrors.

The missing bricks that I've ecouterd on this build so far are mostly out of sight interior pieces. One of them is the base for a Porthole so it is probably only obvious to me since there is so much eye candy in that area.

Bag #17, Consternation, Puzzlement, etc.

Clicked together the bricks and tried to add them to the Stern hull. The RO-OH moment. After a few attemps of trying to figure out why the built part didn't fit it was head sratch time. Old eyes need a lot of help with small parts so the big iMac screen was pressed into service. The downloaded LEGO PDF for the build was perused for the results of builds from Bags #15, #16 and #17. it's embarassing to admit that I missed the error, even after earlier posting pictures pointing out missing bricks in that area.

I've edited those pictures and added the "OOOPS" (Green Circle)

Yup, don't know how I missed it.

Well those who say your a speed demon on this build should know, that most Lego building with step my step, piece by piece instructions is just litterly a SNAP to get done.

I spent more time looking for specific bricks parts when building my Lego train stations and buildings then actual time snaping bricks in place.

Yup, there is a lot find and seek time sorting through bricks to find a specific one. Over the years I've resorted to using the little Aluminum drip trays that go with my Webber grills and sort the major bricks by color. Even with that method it takes a bit of time to find a "one of" brick.

I usually have at least three of these trays going for a build with the major bricks sorted by color. I note the missing bricks on the notepad. I list those by build step and manual page number and use the LEGO PDF on my iMac to look up the part numbers.

(BTW the Admiral hates the sound of my fingers doing the sorting in the tray looking for a brick)
