A very interesting LEGO innovation the gear box at the aft end is designed to be a friction drive. Push the hull across a flat serfuce and the paddle wheel turns.

Bags #3 & #4 on tomorrow's schedule.

The assembly continues;

Bag #3 adds blocks for the foundation of the main deck, finishes the boiler base and adds linkage for moving the rudder as well as the final gears for the Paddlewheel.

Bag #4 adds structure cross pieces, the rest of the foundation blocks for the main deck as well as the deck pieces .

The assembly has become quite solid.

Do we need to ask moderators to add a new build log category for "LEGO" builds, like we have for wood, scratch, plastic and paper?

I had fun building many Lego buildings to go with the Lego Train set I got my wife a few years ago, she wanted the trains, but didn't want to spend time assembling them.

I don't know - I think Lego still qualifies as plastic.

We have more Lego than I care to admit. The Admiral also loves the buildings. She is currently working on her Christmas present, the Neuschwanstein Castle, and the rumors that I have just as many Lego kits are greatly exaggerated. ROTF

On to Bag#5

The various bricks in this bag add the Rudder and Rudder gearbox and the Walking Beam structure.

The Rudder was a hoot, these old eyes had trouble seeing how the bricks fit together, due to the ibrick color on the dark instruction page and the afternoon sun glare.

Bag #6

This bag adds a lot of bits to the engine room. I find it's hard to get a decent picture with my phone since I downloaded the build manual earlier I think I'll use screen shots of the various build pages to show my progress. So...

I think is much better for show and tell.

The actual photo shoot.

Those clever LEGO engineers provided some fun parts, the Piston in the engine block moves up and down and I think the little black gadget next to it represents Steam Boiler.

Yup, I'm having a great time.

Brilliant progress Jan. Like @rtibbs Ron says, you are going like a spear!
Hello my friend, nice to hear from you.

This project is going great. No sawdust, no sanding, no dry fitting, no messy glue, no ugly paint smell. The only drawback is sore finger tips :rolleyes:. I'm fascinated by the engineering that's required to research and produce one of these kits.
