Lint free cloth for poly...

Do any of you guys use wipe on poly in your ship construction? Example minwax poly. What cloth do you use, and from what source?

Fresh washed T-shirt...white undershirt variety. Old, well-worn is best. Won't shed any lint.

na I dont like that option tee shirts are made of cotton and poly

Say Smelly, how about those cheap little foam sponge things that look like a paint brush on acid???
Id think those would work alright and no fuzzies.

ya maybe , I believe the cloth would allow for a better thick ness control. I saw some painteds cloth no lint at homedepot

I have no experience with the subject myself but Minwax sells cloth specifically for this purpose (can be bought at e.g. Amazon) https://www.minwax.com/wood-products/one-step-stain-and-finishes/minwax-wood-finishing-cloths

Edit: Maybe no good, just noticed those seems to be for stain

Old t-shirt pieces - there is more dust and lint floating around in the air / environment than in the cloth.
Always be aware as to how you store or dispose of your used finishing-cloth...
You can also brush it on ... light / thin coat(s).

Might also check at Home Hardware for their Lint Free Rags. Not sure if they still have them but they used to come in 10lb bags for about $10.00 a bag.

Joann Fabrics long time ago bought several yards of pure cotton cloth (like T-shirts), washed it a few times and cut it into squares I keep stored in zip-lock bags to keep dust out: supply has lasted years, is clean and lint free. Is my go-to for polishing paint, applying varnishes and polyurethane.

I use wipe-on poly...but I just brush it on.
