I’m Adrien, I’m 35 years old, and I’m originally from France.
I’ve always been passionate about boats, especially 17th and 18th-century sailing navies. I got my first kits (mini Heller kits at 1/600 scale: La Couronne, Le Phénix, Le Superbe) at the age of 7 or 8, and since then, this passion has never left me.
I currently have an L’Ambitieux at 1/75 scale in progress, but my work and current assignments are slowing me down a lot in completing this model.
For the past year, I’ve discovered a young British creator (Henry Turner) who creates 3D models of ships at 1/600 scale for wargames. I’ve been really impressed by the quality of his 17th and 18th-century ship models, and then by the 3D printing of these models. Even if this isn’t really model-making worthy of your greatest creations, I find that it’s an acceptable compromise to create small models, maintain this passion, and improve my painting skills between sea assignments.
I try to work at 1/400 scale, which allows me to create small dioramas. (I’ve already made the HMS Resolution, the Zeven Provinciën, the Friesland, the Brillant, La Couronne, the Redoutable, and L’Océan).
Today, I’m taking the plunge and coming here to exchange ideas with you on the various topics mentioned above, finish my Ambitieux one day, and perhaps, one day, get into 3D modeling, especially based on Jean Bérain’s sketches.

- First on plastic kits (the Heller galleon, La Couronne, La Sirène, two Royal Louis, the Batavia, two Phénix, and the Soleil Royal).
- Then on a few more modern ships and tanks (the Titanic, the Gneisenau and the Bismarck, Tiger and STUG III), but I must admit that I don’t enjoy making this type of model much.
- Finally, on wooden kits (La Recouvrance, the Mayflower, the HMS Victory).
